What should I check before buying a used elliptical?

Pedal for two full minutes and listen for clicking or grinding. Feel for a dead spot or wobble. Run the resistance from lowest to highest; it should change smoothly.

What is the difference between a Precor EFX and an AMT?

An EFX is a fixed-path elliptical; Precor's CrossRamp changes the ramp angle to shift the work between glutes, quads and calves. An AMT (adaptive motion trainer) has no fixed path: the stride lengthens or shortens as you move.

From our technicians: on used Precor ellipticals we check the ramp drive, lift motor and wheel bearings first, because those wear in club use. The AMT 835 here shows 49 hours.

Every used machine we sell is inspected and serviced by our own technicians before it goes on the floor. Used equipment, including consignment pieces, carries a 90-day guarantee. Used equipment is available for showroom pickup or local delivery in the Treasure Valley — we don't ship used items.

Questions we get about used ellipticals

Is a used Precor EFX 5.31 a home or commercial elliptical?

Home. The EFX 5.31 is one of Precor's home-series ellipticals with the EFX stride. Ours is $495 as of October 2026; see the listing.

What is a lateral trainer?

A trainer whose pedals move side to side instead of front to back, so the stride loads the hips and outer thighs differently from a standard elliptical. The Helix on this page came from a home and is $1,444 as of October 2026.

Do you have used Octane ellipticals?

Sometimes. As of October 2026 there is an Octane Max Trainer at $395. Octane trade-ins from clubs and homes sell quickly, so call 208-345-2226 and ask before you drive over.
